People keep assuming that the Academy won't just put UP in the Animated Feature category they created to honor animation.

If Up is good enough to be considered Best Picture than it's good enough to win in the animated feature category. Why take away from another potential movie by nominating it for BP when it's going to win an Oscar automatically?

Slow night so who's psychic and will go out on a limb poll: Oscars are 3 months away from today, what will the 10 Best Picture nominees be? islander Dec 06, 17:25

All ten.... ?? C'mon.... Hurt Locker, Precious and Up in the Air are shoe ins. Up will probably be there as well. + A Serious Man and 500 Da Facto Dec 06, 17:42

And can't they also include foreing movies there? The White Ribbon, The Maid and Coco Before Chanel. They'll pass on Antichrist, though. {nm} Facto Dec 06, 17:43

in theory they can (Life is Beautiful) but they won't. {nm} mickpix Dec 06, 17:47

von Trier and Haneke and Fontaine at the Oscars - that would be fab hmm Dec 06, 17:47

That would be hilarious. If cool. {nm} dsbman Dec 06, 18:47

Hurt Locker was like two years ago in reality hmm Dec 06, 17:48

i'll go all 10: a serious man, away we go, crazy heart, dr. parnassus, invictus, its complicated, nine, precious, the road, up in the air {nm} islander Dec 06, 17:51

Why on earth would they include Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus... ??? {nm} Facto Dec 06, 17:54

gilliams films have had oscar success in past (maybe not best pic) but lots of acting noms, also talent involved depp, law ledger all academ islander Dec 06, 17:57

I guess there's always that factor that if they truly don't understand it, they nominate it - so they won't have to answer hard Facto Dec 06, 18:01

if theyre smoking enough crack to include away we go, why not include a tgill flick. {nm} adrenalin112 Dec 06, 18:00

i included away we go because sam mendes is like crack to oscars: his 4 films have 17 noms and 6 wins {nm} islander Dec 06, 18:02

I saw that, and I see no reason why they'd include Away We Go... Except for its being perhaps Sideways-ish and Oscar-ish in texture.. {nm} Facto Dec 06, 18:04

Here ya go... secretstalker Dec 06, 17:51

I'm also thinking Inglorious Basterds may very well get there, and I'm with you on An Education (even if I haven't seen it). Add those two Facto Dec 06, 17:56

I know... what's up with that ? :) {nm} joeoftexas Dec 06, 17:55

With ten nominees this year, the door could open to some surprises. I'm guessing the nominees will be LonePirate Dec 06, 17:51

A Single Man.... ? I mulled it over, but no.. Too much style over substance, plus it's his first feature film. Firth will be nominated, tho' {nm} Facto Dec 06, 17:59

upair, hurtlocker, invic, trek, bldsd, inglor, d9, lvbon, avatar, (worlds greatest dad deserves the last one, but wont get it) {nm} adrenalin112 Dec 06, 17:56

I think the chosen 10 will be.... dsbman Dec 06, 18:45

Just curious why so many put in Avatar, looks like garbage on the commercials. can anyone clue me in? {nm} TheSureThing Dec 07, 05:40

Might have something to do with the 11 Oscars Cameron's last film won...just a hunch. {nm} RoBoGuru Dec 07, 09:35
