Zac Efron is a stronger actor than Tom Cruise?
Wow. That's about the last thing I think when i see Efron and compare it to the work of a young Cruise, when he was at the beginning of his career.
I see Efron in a similar light to Lautner and Pattinson, guys primed for a teen beat career. Of all these young, male heartthrobs that are making it right now, they should really save all their money, for while one of them will most likely pan out, and develop into an actual actor, most of them simply will not, and will be gone before we know it.
This guy Lautner exemplifies this. From what I've seen so far, he's a lucky guy. He's got a nice smile, good for him, he's getting paid and laid right now. Let's see how him and Efron are doing 5 years from now before we start comparing them to Tom Cruise (IMO).
who knows, maybe when Efron and Lautner grow up, they'll have worked with Paul Thomas Anderson, The Coen Brothers, and Martin Scorsese, and will be in all the great works of cinematic art that get made in the coming years (Cruise went on to work with Scorsese, Spielberg, PTA, Michael Mann, Cameron Crowe, Edward Zwick, Neil Jordan, Oliver Stone, Barry Levinson, Wow that's an amazing list of artistry right there).
But...
I'm certainly not gonna be holding my breath on that one.

Tom Cruise is also a very memorable, short and snappy name, two syllables all together. Taylor Lautner.... not so much.. {nm} Feb 06, 12:49
