As for where they go...they could dump everything and start over...at this point, once they do the movies that need doing and are already being made, why not? Move ahead a generation and run with the youngin's in the universe...why?
B/c, if there was one character I would love to see onscreen who has never really been done before - it's Nightwing. Give me Nightwing and Deathstroke in a movie (with other heroes or villains or just by themselves) and I would pay to see it. I don't think you could mess it up bad enough I wouldn't. You could bring in so many teams Nightwing has been a part of (Teen Titans, Titans, Young Justice, Bat Family, Outsiders, Justice League, Batman Inc, Spyral, etc) and create a DC world with him at the center, like Iron Man/Nick Fury has been the center of Marvel movies so far...
Richard Grayson holds together so much of the universe and in the movies, he's an afterthought at best...that could change if someone could see the potential...
It's what I'd do, but I'm a fan, not a film maker:)...
