But you continue to miss the point. TIFF's audience award is an indicator for success in awards season. Awards and award nominations leads to more revenue, including more box office. There isn't a direct causation between the award and box office but the award has an effect on its award chances. Whether La La Land gets a bunch of award nominations is only something that we'll know in time, but its safe to say this is exactly the start it wanted.
