Big difference between shot with IMAX cameras and expanding for the IMAX aspect ratio
Would like to guess what AMAZON end game is targeting.
IMAX has worked on development of live event broadcasting, concerts (aka: Las Vegas, LA) to be distributed to IMAX stand alones. At the time, bandwidth and compression (processing power) was an issues, with the AMAZON network that might be a solution? Broadcasting concerts would increase viewers and ASP along with the creation of a new distribution network for live events.
One of the stopping points would be the IMAX Camera, limited number. IMAX should be building additional IMAX cameras! The cameras are very expensive, but having a waiting line to get ones hands on the IMAX camera is a chicken and egg event.. Sometimes you need to do a RISKY BUSINESS (Tom Cruise) move and say WTF, it worked out well for Joel Goodsen! Pre show advertisement shot with an IMAX Camera might increase the overall experience and creativity of the new comers into the entertainment setting....
