A publicly held company is fundamentally and legally different than a church:

Officers act as agents. They act on behalf of the corporation, and they also owe a fiduciary duty to the shareholders of the corporation. Like directors, corporate officers must discharge their duties in what they believe in good faith to be in the best interest of the corporation. They also owe a duty to act with the care that a reasonably prudent person would if put in a similar situation. The corporation’s bylaws -- rules that govern the corporation -- provide for the appointment of certain officers. Corporations typically have a president and a treasurer, or secretary-treasurer, but the bylaws may allow the directors to appoint other officers as well.

*the duty of loyalty therefore mandates that directors maximize the value of the corporation over the long-term [sic] for the benefit of the providers of equity capital, as warranted for an entity with perpetual life in which the residual claimants have locked in their investment.

No different than churches that feel their position entitles them to push their views on others. {nm} Antibody May 31, 07:55

I would argue that if a church acts with a sense of entitlement, they need some serious reflection. You push people away like that. {nm} RollingThunder May 31, 08:04

The purpose of a church is to push their views on others. That is what religion does. Name a religion that does not want to convert others Catzan May 31, 08:56

..or it might be that a church has a message to present...people have their agency to accept or not...not all of them "push" {nm} Flash Jun 02, 14:44

If its obvious companies are different than churches, why did you say "its no different than churches"? {nm} forlorne May 31, 12:17
