slack-jaw. A racist a racist, a lowlife gay-basher a lowlife gay-basher, an incel misogynist an incel misogynist. I do not allow culture war casualties to hide behind euphemisms such as "traditional values," or "color-blind," or "conservative values," or "Republican," or "heartlland values." I call a can't-keep-up backwater a can't-keep-up backwater, and the depleted human residue that remains in our desolate southern and rural stretches after generations of bright flight (all of the smart, ambitious, decent young people leaving and never returning) the Trump base.

One of the great achievements of America's liberal-libertarian mainstream during my lifetime is that the bigots no longer want to be known as bigots, at least not publicly. Same with the substandard people who appease bigots. But we should call a bigot a bigot . . . . until that bigot is replaced, as all clingers are to be replaced, by a younger, better American.

Others are welcome to wallow in political correctness, and give the deplorable culture war casualties a pass. I'll call a bigot a bigot.
