As we hit the stretch.. Official Calls recap and last thoughts --

Posted by: VictorY on Dec 22, 10:02

To review.  Calls for Fall..

1. No Time To Die
2. Dune
3. Eternals

Winter Frame

1. SpiderMan:  No Way Home
2. Sing 2
3. The Matrix 4.
4. The Kings Man
5. Seasame Street
6. Belfast

Ohhh, I wish I could up included "Venom 2," but since I made my first calls on Oct. 1, when the Friday early numbers were out, I felt it was cheating. Congrats to Sony.

"Dune" and "Eternals" did end up way closer than expected, as I felt would happen.  They are literally "this close" to each other worldwide (within 7+ million).  Understandably I have to wait to see if a re-release happens off Dune's Best Picture Oscar nomination (which I fully see happening) as they remain 50+ million apart domestically.

But it's very possible "Dune" beats "Eternals" worldwide off future release schedule and "Eternals" holds on Domestic side.  Which very few saw coming, outside a gut instinct call from myself.

Also, "Sing 2" will beat "Matrix" off repeat showings if "Matrix" pulls a higher opening at start.   Glad I avoided the "West Side Story" trap (never felt that film was strong, even with Oscar buzz) and "Seasame Street" could be easily bomb off its plot structure if kids don't give it a pass, allowing "Belfast" to pass it.

Happy Holidays fellow HSX.ers..  and on to the new year..   Enjoy the films

Thanks for your thoughts. Sesame Street is not coming out. It did not actually get made due to covid. {nm} ad48 Dec 22, 10:09

Oh thank you. Good catch. So the release date isn't happening Then Belfast takes the 5 spot off its Best Picture run {nm} VictorY Dec 22, 10:11

Its at Warner Bros and director indicated it might end up on HBO Max (maybe) {nm} ad48 Dec 22, 10:12

Thanks. That clears all that up. Thanks for the post {nm} VictorY Dec 22, 10:20

ETRNL at $163M is way ahead of DUNE at $106M. You can't change the subject to international box office. {nm} Antibody Dec 22, 10:14

I'm just noting it for comparison, which I found interesting. I'm still focused on the domestic run, which could change with Oscars {nm} VictorY Dec 22, 10:16

TKSS3 early numbers are out. I guess you can't include it either. {nm} Antibody Dec 22, 10:16

My "Kings Man" call was in my previous calls, some months ago.. No worries. {nm} VictorY Dec 22, 10:19

You included SESAM as a Jan release yet left out SCRM5 and MORBI. {nm} Antibody Dec 22, 10:23

I honestly don't know if those release dates will hold.. MORBI could do very well but it keeps changing dates. I could update calls in Jan. {nm} VictorY Dec 22, 10:25

Scream tickets are on sale now. Its not going to move. Its selling well and will do well. {nm} ad48 Dec 22, 10:26

Morbius needs to open now with the Venom tie in and any vague link they can find to market it to Spidey. So that wont move. {nm} ad48 Dec 22, 10:28

Agreed. Yeah I'll update calls in Jan. if those dates remain. First glace.?. MORB goes 4 spot, and Scream takes #5. But we'll see {nm} VictorY Dec 22, 10:30

MORB will do better than Matrix. HBO Max is a **** for legs. {nm} ad48 Dec 22, 10:33

Could see that. Nice take {nm} VictorY Dec 22, 10:35

Ad48 updated me on Seasame, it's not coming out {nm} VictorY Dec 22, 10:36

Yet you included SESAM which doesn't even have a trailer or any marketing. {nm} Antibody Dec 22, 10:34

I felt that was weird also. Turns out its not coming ou {nm} VictorY Dec 22, 10:37
