Partly due to IMAX underestimating Demon Slayer and dropping it after pre-opens for MORTAL KOMBAT (more)

IMAX has a history of making bad calls and then over compensating. They passed on the original FROZEN because they had been burned on a couple of IMAX releases of kids films doing poorly and then they went crazy with doing IMAX runs for a ton of kids films afterwards.

I think they also wound up passing on the first LEGO MOVIE as well (but #2 and Lego Batman they did)

The Per Theater Averages of JFJOR, West Side Story, Nightmare Alley, are pretty dreadful. These movies all have lots of screens. goodvibe61 Dec 27, 10:51
