Movies

Heh, Glengarry Glen Ross.. Now that's a *fine* movie.. But looking at Twitter, the reactions really are of disgust, almost across the board.

Grown Ups, according to ChrisEW, did well with audiences, got great reactions. This one doesn't. So it's not whether it's review proof or not, but rather about WOM, I'd say.

If Grown Ups was review proof, it was because of great WOM from the people it catered to - obviously Joe Bloe and Jane Doe; not the kind of people critics mix too much with, but they make up a large bulk of the movie going audiences (something tells me many critics are more into high-brow art, when it comes down to it, and hang with either hipsters or intellectuals - the cognoscenti, either way).

Airbender never was meant to cater to the same main demo as Grown Ups, but rather to fan boys and girls of a manga concept which I gather they are quite devoted to. The reaction from many of these fans on Twitter, hints at the movie mostly being considered a sacrilege. Not good..

Strange how two movies like Jonah Hex and Last Airbender are released the same summer. They are both supposed to be ridiculously bad. And that's kinda sad.

So I go over to Rotten Tomatoes. The "best" Twilight movie has an RT score of 52. Rotten. But it must be Citizen Kane compared to Airbender. goodvibe61 Jun 30, 23:35

WOW ! I Just Read Some Of Those BRUTAL Twitter Reactions And People Are Not Likeing This Movie At All. :( wrongturn687 Jun 30, 23:41

So, Airbender is a sure short? {nm} petz Jun 30, 23:53

In HSX nothing is for certain. {nm} Skauge Jun 30, 23:58

It had lots of midnight sellouts. {nm} dsbman Jul 01, 00:07

The CinemaBlend review hints of bad writing, but material with such potential and beauty it could have the next LOTR in it... Facto Jul 01, 00:32

Do bad reviews stop the little kiddies from coming to see a movie? APRedona Jul 01, 00:36

Seems like perhaps the studio knows it's bunk, just as happened with Jonah Hex.. They're quietly dumping it - drowning it in Twilight-roar {nm} Facto Jul 01, 01:34

No! It tells me it must be a sure long! Grown Ups at 10% on RT = 40 million opening, so Bender at 6 % could mean 60 million. goodvibe61 Jul 01, 00:43

There have been many absolutely horrid films that have been longs in the past so until we see box office numbers it's still up in the air. {nm} mrbeankc Jul 01, 02:18

Yeah, but those were longs because HSX had *underestimated* them all the way until release. BENDR seems to come from the other end. {nm} Facto Jul 01, 02:36

To re-state: Those films had reputations of being stinkers a long way out. BENDR was only just recently - yesterday, in fact - revealed to Facto Jul 01, 02:38

Awesome choice for a western! Once Upon A Time is one of the greats. Smelly Monkey Jul 01, 00:23

Why thanks Monkey! {nm} goodvibe61 Jul 01, 00:44

Airbender is going to be cannibalised by all the other big movies, there is basically not marketshare for everyone to succeed.. {nm} Teabagger Jul 01, 01:47
