Most Drive-In's still do it, studios encourage it because it allows them to inflate grosses to hit milestones when they are close (but...)
Post-COVID, distributors and exhibitors are still leery of extended double-features/marathons, especially the mega-marathons 3 and up films at a time. Partly because of the percieved risk of possible COVID/RSV infection, inability to clean between shows.
Also, with the reduced theatrical output of studios, and shorter windows to home video, sometimes studios won't have two films still in active release to show together that would be appropriate.

i doubt chains could get away showing two films for the price of one even aside from losing money on the extra sale Jan 10, 10:57
