The story you speak of has appeared in only one blog, and has yet to be corroborated anywhere else. CHUD has deemed the source, "Hollywood Cog," to be "a young guy who is either interning or is an assistant at one of the agencies." The author of the post even admits, "I have to believe that the odds of the project getting through the development process are slim given just how similar it is to Real Steel."
When people were talking about "Batman vs Superman" or even "Ender's Game," at these were credible productions in development. This Rock Em' Sock 'Em Robots movie just sounds like a lot of BS.
