ODYSE will be near or at 500 Million Domestic Sunday. Dark Knight's 535M is within reach with these drops.

We're seeing another instance of insanely low drops weekend to weekend helping push a film to crazy heights. I want to see the final weekend number, because it feels like we're looking at yet another superb hold for the film. Which has me thinking it has a really solid chance of leaping over Dark Knight and becoming Chris Nolan's all time best domestic release.

I think the IMAX element is a pretty large factor in this. Seeing the IMAX 70MM screens continuing to be sell outs is an awe inspiring thing. For a film to continue to just sell out ANY screen this far down the road after the release date is amazing in my book.

I also think we can attribute part of this to the overall dearth of adult oriented films being available to watch in the theater. There ARE many film lovers out there, who LOVE going to the movies, and when something this good and interesting becomes available they flock to it. I'm at a point where I'm just grateful that I movie like this even exists at this point, although this year has been encouraging regarding people really returning to the theater in big numbers.

And no, I'm not ignoring Spidey. Obviously that's as impressive as it gets, and it's great to see ANY film perform like that one is, it's stunning to see how effortlessly it hits 1B and shows every sign of being a continuing record setter.

Clearly the box office is far, FAR from dead. In fact, if the studios hadn't chickened out to this degree, and kept the volume of films up to keep the cineplex filled with options, it feels like going to the movie theater would be as popular as ever. But we continue to see long stretches of time without anything truly significant coming out, to keep the energy at the theaters going. But it sure if great to see attendance behave this way at this point .
