Wow, that's a pretty misleading headline. They aren't banned "in public", but in public service settings (public transit, schools)
They are still allowed to be worn in public. The law only targets "public workers and anyone receiving public services from wearing the niqab or any other face covering."
And while it's just been passed, it very likely won't hold up due to our Charter of Rights in our constitution, so it'll just be struck down.
