2. Firearms training rule #1: Stop the immediate threat to life. If the immediate threat to life is not stopped, the other rules don't mean a thing. The mom had no control over who was standing where. She had no time to give directions. The only thing she had time to do was eliminate the immediate threat to life. Sometimes people are at the wrong place at the wrong time, but training allows you to focus on what is the immediate threat and to eliminate it.
