Hmm....

I haven't seen that error before, but I seem to recall that people with large ports got it when using older versions of Firefox.  Have you considered upgrading?

If that doesn't appeal to you, then I would first try turning off the various Firefox plugins one by one to see if one of them is causing the issue.  Firefox plugins can be very nifty, but they can also behave squirrelly at times.
