How about adding a Flip option?
In addition to the Buy\Sell\Short\Cover options, how about adding a Flip option that converts X number of owned shares from either a long to a short or from a short to a long. To keep things fair, charge the 2% commission a player would normally pay (1% for selling or covering the owned sharess during the first half of the flip and then another 1% for buying or shorting them in the second half of the flip).
This would probably cut down on server traffic and database calls since it would turn two transactions into one. It would definitely save time for players as well.
