With a serendipitous role in the 1970 film Joe, Susan Sarandon landed several more roles throughout the decade. The '80s brought Sarandon's first Oscar nom for her lead role in Atlantic City and the success of Thelma and Louise firmly established her in Hollywood. After an impressive string of Oscar noms, Sarandon finally won an Academy Award in 1995 for Dead Man Walking.
