Last Sunday, the 67th Golden Globes brought out all the stars on tap to get recognition this year.  The Golden Globes are awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.  Many believe that whoever wins a Globe is also likely to win the equivalent Oscar.  One thing is for sure, it doesn’t hurt to bring home one of these trophies.

Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony were hosted by the original British The Office star Ricky Gervais [RGERV] and broadcast live for the very first time.  Martin...

Rogue has released the redband trailer for the action comedy MacGruber [MGRUB].   Originally a SNL spoof on the TV series MacGyver, the MacGruber movie appears more like a R-rated version of The Pink Panther than a parody of Richard Dean Anderson's jack of all trades.  Will Forte stars as the title character, a clueless ex-special ops soldier brought back in when his old nemesis, played by Val Kilmer [VKILM], stolen a nuclear warhead.  Ryan Phillippe [RPHIL] and Kristen Wigg [KWIIG] co-star...

As the sci-fi epic picked up the Golden Globes for Best Drama and Best Director for James Cameron [JCAME], Avatar [HWAVA] banked a record $54.6 million over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend to top the previous high of $46.0 million set by Cloverfield.  That Avatar was able to accomplish the feat in its fifth weekend of release is simply unimaginable.  After one month, Avatar has accumulated $505 million, on pace to surpass The Dark Knight's $533 million  and within reach of...

After scoring the biggest second, third and fourth weekends of all times, can Avatar [HWAVA] sink Titanic’s $30 million for the best fifth weekend ever as well?  Chances are good for the blue aliens since the 3-day portion of the weekend fall before the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.   The 3D sci-fi epic has lost little momentum in its march through the record books.  Avatar should be able to attract around $42 million over the 4-day and remain King of the Box Office.

Denzel Washington...

Consolidated Picture Group has released the official domestic trailer for I Love You, Phillip Morris [ILUPM].  The R-rated comedy stars Jim Carrey [JCARR] as a con artist in what appears to be a typical Carrey vehicle.  That is until he gets caught and sent to prison where he falls in love with a fellow inmate, played by Ewan McGregor [EMCGR].

CPG recently pushed back the release date from Feburary 5th to March 26th.

The January box office used to offer films that would not fare as well at other times of the year.  However, moviegoers have proven that they will come out anytime for the right movie. This coming Monday brings Martin Luther King Jr. Day,  the first holiday weekend of 2010.  Last year during the MLK holiday, the surprise hit Paul Blart: Mall Cop took in close to $40 million at the box office.

Fox has released online the official trailer for The A-Team [ATEAM] at Yahoo.  With the voiceover from the classic intro  and a slow build-up of the familiar theme song, the trailer hit all the right note in teasing the remake of the popular 1980s TV series.   The 1983 GMC van, check.  The mohawk and bad attitude, check.  The trademark lines, check.  The corny, over the top action, checkmate!
