Oftentimes on the day immediately after adjust, there's either a bounce in the opposite direction of the way it adjusted (ie. it adjust positive, so it bounces negative the next day) or there's a bounce in the opposite way that most people were holding it before adjust (ie. it may have adjusted positive, but most people were still holding it short before Saturday's halt, so all the people trying to get out of that short position after adjust cause a positive bump). And sometimes it's just a crapshoot with no rhyme or reason how day-after-adjust goes.
Now, longer term, until further weekends show trends leading to delist, most stocks in release are best held short since many of them do not reach the adjusted price. However, some movies such as family films, Christmas time releases, movies with excellent WOM, and movies that go from limited to wide release are better held long since they can exceed the adjust price.
