So the idea being that whatever sells on the IPO day will determine what that four dollars is worth?
IE,
If they offered 4 million shares, or whatever, at $4 but it sold 1 million longs and 20 million shorts, that, essentially means a $4 share is worth 1 million longs and 20 million shorts, so, therefore, if another million longs are bought and 1 million shorts are covered, the price goes away up?
I guess I assumed, if they were offering 4 million shares at $4 dollars it meant that the value would corelate to the sold shares. IE, if 2,950,000 shares were sold long and NO shares were shorted then the IPO would readjust the next day to $2.95 no matter what.
Wait, I think I just confused myself. Is this making sense?
