between the time you push "buy" and the time HSX processes it, the price has changed

also when you buy or sell (or short or cover) any stock under $2, you are charged 2 cents commission - meaning if you buy at 10 cents, you have to sell for at least 15 cents to make anything, otherwise you will show a loss
