I've heard this about a few theaters, my question to you is...

Were they cheering every death? Because in my opinion, whether intentional or not, there are about 3 or 4 kills, without getting into spoilers, that it's a bit hard not to want to see happen. Of course it would be much different if this were real life, but because of nature of the story, the vast majority of the tributes are canon fodder or pretty big antagonists, so there's no investment in what happens to them.
