Yeah, aside from a decent climax and a few funny parts, The Avengers was bad. Joss Whedon is a pretty terrible director.
There's no energy to the early action sequences and the plot is Transformers-level stupid without the benefit of Michael Bay's signature style (which is far better than Whedon's TV-esque look that makes the movie look far smaller and blander than a 220M film should ever look). Scarlett is terrible too. She barely ever emotes anything beyond the look and sound of boredom.
Saw it today. If the numbers hold I must say, VERY disappointing that this movie will hold the weekend record. Good Lord. May 05, 17:31
