***Oscar Nomination Contest*** (details inside)...

We have some really bright people on here when it comes to trading stock and box office numbers, but let's get back to the basics with a contest on movie knowledge. Or at least let's get in the mindset of the Oscar voters.

So here's what I need from you:

Submit your top 5 picks for who gets nominated in each of these categories:

1. Best Actor
2. Best Actress
3. Best Supporting Actor
4. Best Supporting Actress
5. Best Director
6. Best Adapted Screenplay
7. Best Original Screenplay

And for tie-breaker, submit all the films you think get nominated for Best Picture. That's not as simple as you think because the Academy can choose 5 thru 10 films to nominate. Last year 9 films were nominated. So go with what you know and submit the names of the films you think will be recognized.

Please try to be as clean as possible in your submissions, instead of using stock symbols please type the names of the individual and the film itself out to avoid incorrect entries. Below is an example of how it should look:

Best Actor:
Brad Pitt
George Clooney
Michael Douglas
Jim Carrey
Adam Sandler

Best Actress:
Annette Benning
Etc.

Best Picture:
The Thin Red Line
Etc.

The only rule beyond that is don't simply copy others EXACT submissions. The only way I see to avoid having that happen is making the first entry submitted be the one that counts. In other words, should your guesses happen to match anothers EXACTLY (meaning all eight categories match exactly), then your submission will be disqualified. It's not to say you don't truly believe in your guesses, but I can't think of another way this contest will work for a winner take all scenario.

I dont expect this will be near as popular as previous contests, and therefore submissions will be a lot less. But should you decide to play you'll have a chance at a $50 gift card of your choice. All entries must be in by 11:59pm PST, tonight.

All entries need to remain in one thread, per DMac. I might post a reminder this evening, but you'll need to follow the link in the reminder and post your guesses to the original thread.

This is a quick contest and payout will be sometime tomorrow, as nominations are announced pretty early in the morning.
