broader appeal to non-Marvel fanatics?
The first movie's period piece has been gutted, along with that great romance so Cap's romance-crippled in this one. Few will care let alone feel it, assuming they're even trying to pair him up with anybody else. Except maybe Bucky, that'd certainly get some publicity at least. :-)
I've seen this sequel described as a "70s thriller" or some such. The 70s were boring. I don't think many are particularly inclined to see a movie like this about it. Comedies maybe. Yes, I know it's set in present era, but I thought the "70s thriller" pitch was odd and showed weakness -- that they have precious little to sell here.
The upcoming Amazing Spider-Man villain looks uber-cool. Cap's is freakin' Bucky Barnes as a wannabe Cap or some such.
It's got Robert Redford, but speaking of the 70s. :-)
The most memorable clip from the ads is a black van getting flipped up in the air.
Maybe a lot will go because it's the big movie next weekend, but I'm just not seeing or sensing any genuinely strong want-to-see here, beyond the usual suspects.
