You're right...
I called it a couple of months out that the reviews would fall short of Skyfall's by a large margin, but didn't think it would be on the cusp of a Rotten score.
That was based mostly off a gut feeling that they didn't fix all the script issues exposed by the Sony leaks; all that coupled high expectations.
You're right, though... it does make this weekend a lot more fun.
