The Indians, Chinese and Europens all introduced or reintroduced the concept, as well as domestication of animals for agriculture and sustained agriculture itself. In many areas those basic tenents of civilization didn't take root until the 19th century. There was no dwelling above 2 stories in sub-Sahara until Europeans built them.

My friends worked in the Peace Core for years in Africa and he saw first hand the short-sightedness, locals dismantled the water filtration, electrical systems and infrastructure paid by western countries for ramshackle housing.

Making Wakanda into Atlantis-like is ridiculous. Lee and Kirby used logic toward Wakanda, only modern technology could mine and extract vibranium, which the technological-silcon age only took root after WW2
So by making Wakanda have a slight edge was logical. "Modern Wakanda" as pictured in the movie is just fictional Atlantis scenario that is highly illogical and without precedent. The Eternals and the Inhumans had Atlantis as precedent. If you don't know who those two groups are you don't know Marvel comics lore.
How all-purpose vibranium is portrayed in BP movie is also highly illogical.... As I've said Film Theorists, MauLer and Dishonored Wolf give great examples into how illogical and inconsistent the new Wakanda is.
Logically, economical Wakanda as shown in the movie won't work.
Education has regressed as well in African as it's no longer under colonial rule. The brightest minds realize how dysfunctional Africa is and leave. Without western and now Chinese companies developing the resources African countries would have next to nothing.
Ryan Coogler did a good job re-imagining BP but there are HUGE plot holes economically, socially, historically, scientificly. Entertaining nontheless.
Then again if you get your history from the modern History channel ... then aliens is responsible for Wakanda.
