If you have read the book...oops...over ten times...well, you're like me and see so many obvious things excluded that would add to a movie. Why on earth not tell anyone what a Mentat is? Or the value of a Suk Inner School trained doctor? Or that Hawat knew there was a traitor? Or that there was tension between the Duke and Jessica? Or that the old Duke was killed by that bull that they keep showing and that Jessica didn't want it in the main hall? Where was the state dinner? Why not show the perspective of the hunter seeker so you could see it has poor vision it as definitely bigger and had a shield that made it slippery? Why is it important that Beast Rabban take over Dune again? Where the heck is Feyd Rautha? And why doesn't Jessica tell Paul, "How does it feel to be a killer?" Ā And why on earth do you reveal the importance of Spice to navigators in the beginning of the movie when Paul doesn't figure this out until what 3/4 of the way thru the book?
This was like Dune Lite. I can see it is an enjoyable movie for non-readers. But the Last Duel is best picture this year by far over Dune despite its poor box result.
