Studio test screenings score on a 1-100 across various demos on various things but the goal is to get a high "definite recommend" percentage
i.e. they are asked "would you recommend this film to your friends/family"
It usually goes "definite recommend" "would recommend" (these are also referred to as "the top two boxes") on the flip side "would not recommend" "definitely would not recommend"
They usually ask a dozen different questions, along the lines of who was your favorite character, who was your least favorite, what did you think about the ending. Were you confused. Sometimes this leads to reshoots, but often is a guideline to how they market the film "make sure you put this line/scene in the trailer!"
