My workable script...

Mia has been married for 15 years now (real time since last movie) and finds out that she cannot have children.  In order to keep the throne from passing on to the "Barons", Mia takes a tour of orphanges in her country planning to adopt a child to succeed her.  All kinds of children are looked at and Mia is pressured into choosing a boy to become the future king or at least a beautiful girl that has the poise of a princess. All of the pressures of being the queen is getting to her... then she meets a quirky young girl that has been working behind the scenes that reminds her of herself when she started this journey.  In order for the adoption to go thru and the government to approve of this girl as Mia's heir, Mia must teach this girl the same lessons that she was taught... hillarity ensues.
