Outside of Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, I don't see how you can claim that this Fincher is a "well known" director. The only well known actor in there is Justin Timberlake, and I honestly don't see any good marketing around. A couple of billboards with white letters saying "You don't get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies". That's not too special if you ask me.
Even if the premise is universal, that doesn't mean the movie is going to do well. Hell, Vampires Suck had a pretty universal premise; just about every person I know hates Twilight. I will honestly be shocekd if this hits above $30 mil on the opening weekend. Trailer looks meh, and people aren't going to be THAT hyped to see a movie about facebook.
Maybe it'll get a good friday showing or something, but I don't think WOM will be good.
