Your response says "Not being included in a Variety review is the worst reason for someone being left out of having a movie attached to their bond."
I said nothing about a Variety review. These are the kind of errors (sloppiness) that make me feel like I need to doublecheck the things that you report before I act or invest based on them.
My understanding is that starbond attachments are given for stars who appear in projects and their starpower is used to promote the project or bring viewers to the project. Their names appear in the trailers, on posters, on the movie's official websites, and in the press releases and promotional materials. The makers of the movie want everybody to know that this star has a part in the movie that people should come and see (and/or people who have reviewed the film felt that their presense and/or role deserved to be mentioned).
Margaret was filmed several years ago. When the film was announced the makers made no effort to spotlight that MEALY was going to be, or was in the film. Even when the film was complete, HSX had no reason to attach him to the project. For the last three years the movie has been in a legal battle and has been talked about many times. MEALY has not been mentioned. Dewitt has been mentioned and was attached.
The starpower that MEALY brings to the project is that he was not known to be in the film at the time of filming, not known to be in the film for three years of legal battles, and was only discovered by one person three months after the movie was released.
The few internet mentions of him being in the movie state that he has a small part (which I posted in my first response).
The official movie website does not mention him (link)
imdb claims that they list the credits in order that they appear at the end of the movie... MEALY is #30 listed (#31 and #32 are Opera Singer and Opera Singer #2) (link)
Netflix does not list him in the cast (but they do list Dewitt) (link)
