If a millionaire has a mortgage on expensive property, AMT eliminates the deduction. It eliminates deductions on Real Estate Tax as well. Repealing the AMT is not closing a loop-hole, it is a new loophole.
Eliminating Estate Tax helps the rich who have estates large enough to have it affect them. Just calling it "death tax" is a code word for someone who is very rich, or licks their boots.
