Why Do I lose money when I Cover a short?

It's happened twice now where I cover my short after making money (thus the stock went down and I profited) and now it says my net gain today is down 25k. Any explanation for this? Thanks

commission is 1% of whatever the cost of the stocks, so if you covered $2.5Million worth of stock, the commsision would be 25K {nm} islander Oct 24, 18:56
