"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take" - Elmo (Misattributed)
I want to run a Movie Fund focusing exclusively on "Indie" studios and their movies. I think it's a really good idea for a fund given the massive successes recently with indie and small budget films, I'm surprised it hasn't been done yet.
Who am I?
Absolutely no one, heck I've only got H$7M and my current trading strategy is "Short Bad ideas, Long brand names and A24, buy every BW" so I'm not a master... Or an apprentice.. Or even the guy at the lobby who sits a desk and checks people's badges. But I think that's the point.
Movie funds are a cool idea to me but no one uses them much. The the trading volume daily is small so usually it's one person buying or selling in it. The risk of me failing and hurting any large number of players is equally small then given how niche the market for them are and how only a few have delisted and hit that H$100 payout.
Theres also a hole, the African-American fund recently delisted at H$100 and the Asian fund isn't far behind that leaving us with just 2 active ones. I may be wrong but it doesn't seem like anyone else is looking to start one up.
