We Were Soldiers is a Vietnam War story detailing the first battle between U.S. troops and the North Vietnamese Army. Randall Wallace (The Man in the Iron Mask) directs from his own adaptation of the book We Were Soldiers Once... And Young. The 34-day battle at La Drang pitted 400 American soldiers who were helicoptered in against an enemy force 3000 strong. Mel Gibson leads the cast.

Wallace also penned the script to Braveheart and Pearl Harbor. Paramount Studios roduce the film with Mel Gibson's Icon Productions and Wheelhouse Productions.
