I hear you...
I've done the same things... unloaded lots of stocks I've had long... shorted some stocks that are far away from release (used to be a BIG no-no!), sold off lots of 'development' stocks, tried to focus just on stocks that have release dates, or in production, shorted some... longed some... didn't max out on some I bought, maxxed out on others... seems like stocks in the 'red' every day are way more than those that are 'green.'
If you own 100K shares of a stock, and it drops $1, then that's 100K you lose... JUST on that one stock! Multiply that by many I hold, and it adds up fast... Same holds true on ones I short.
I'm trying to decide if I want to start holding EVERYTHING short...since the stocks that are red every day really offset the ones in the green... or if they ARE green, it's only 2-3 cents...lol
