I thought the smartest human in the film was the Alzheimer's patient (spoilers inside)
Seriously though. I found the entire film very predictable and the characters flat. Franco's boss was a two dimentional caricature who you know from the beginning is going to have a nasty ape caused death. All humans in the film except Franco and his household are portrayed as very stupid. They're all set up to meet nasty ends which is likely why the makers don't want you to like any of them.
You could pretty much watch the film and know what's going to happen 15 minutes on. Very unimaginative. I thought the two best actors in the film were John Lithgow and the CGI chimp. Kind of bad when the cgi monkey is a better actor than the film's star.
