simple....
CX stocks act more like holiday warrants than the HSX stocks. Most people invest in them one time at IPO (which is usually months before release) and forget about them which causes the price to rise and then level off. Only a small percent remember them over the releasing weekend and take the actions needed and such a small amount of player action does not move the stock much.
If you also remember that the CXs are also IPOed at a high price, then it makes the CXs hard to drop down if a movie bombs, there is enough players to reverse the direction over opening weekend but then that movement also levels and there is not enough movement after opening weekend to keep driving the price down to meet the box office.
Example: REPO.CX IPOed for $40.50. Most all players bought the stock long causing it to rise to $51.09 where it got saturated and leveled off. It stayed at that range for a month until it bombed on opening and the attentive players flipped it short causing the price to go down. On Monday (from the office) other players saw it was going down and also flipped and so on and so on, until again the market became saturated and the price started leveling off (cause there was not enough player movement to keep substaining it down). Now it has a gap between box office and CX price and not enough movement to continue driving it down.
Same thing happened with all Avatar stocks, it was making $20mill box office a day and HSX could not keep up because the buying power was all spent opening weekend.
