It happens regularly at shows. Right or wrong nobody ever reacts with violence. Or refuses to properly apologize/defend his actions. Bafta hosts joked about Smith's wife sleeping around openly just 2 weeks back & he did nothing there.
Will Smith didn't just laugh at the joke till he saw his wife's reaction. He laughed with Denzel in the break when he tried to 'make him feel better' (there's photos/videos), he laughed again about it while giving his winner's speech (during which he just tried to justify why he did what he did) & then put out a crazy post on social media afterwards about why you should never invite people from certain cities.
Fandoms shouldn't blind someone to what happened. There are at least 6 acting performances of WSMIT I really like. Yesterday wasn't one of them.
