I assume they'll have their man Guillermo show up and program some stuff, so they'll maybe show movies he picks during the week as opposed to theirs. And that really hurts, because I've talked to him several times there over the years, back in the day.
I hope the Cinematheque is doing well; I'm sure they probably are for the moment. I miss my old friends there; I think some similarly quit going once it reopened, but most of them live far, far closer to the theater than i do, so some have most likely since submitted and gone back. They were regulars pre-covid pre-the takeover, and when the news came down (I remember; it was in the Spring of 2019, Pre-Covid but everyone knew for almost a year that the theater would be owned by somebody else that didn't particularly have a love affair with theatrical), everyone pretty much said it was the end of the run for all intent and purpose. Those were some damn good times. I've lost touch with several of them; a few I've met up with at the Chinese or the NewBev or the Vista. But I miss it; I really do.
But that's life; a famous cinematic football coach once said: "When you get old in life, things get taken from you. I mean, that's a part of life. But you only learn that when you start losing stuff".
I haven't talked to Guillermo in a long time; if I did it would probably be rough LOL. But I love him. I LOVE him.
