It's been one great night after another. Michael Keaton was a joy. Jungle Jack cried. Last night Cher walked on and killed it. He's had Presidents come on to pay tribute to HIM.
Having grown up watching Jay Leno guest on Dave's original Late Night NBC show more than any other gues, it truly does feel like the end of an era in pop culture, both of them going off the air. It's sort of sad; i don't think people know exactly what they're losing. Letterman was always a guy who went his own way. There was nothing like his curmudgeonly blowing off the guests he didn't care much for, it led to such kinetic interviewing and entertainment. Now we're going to be left with the likes of Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon, who appears to simply LOVE EVERYBODY (I'm waiting for the SNL skit where Fallon has Hitler or Bin Laden on his show, tells them how much he loves their act, and then plays charades with them, drinking beer shots the whole time. That's definitely a skit right there).
I'm not sure we'll see the likes of Dave again, or at least any time soon.
