A mosque was hit by a suidide bomber. 34 people, including her father, were killed. No motive mentioned, no mention of the father being targeted.
The only reason the father appears to be mentioned at all is as a reference point because his daughter would have been the only person that anyone anywhere outside IRan might have ever heard of (apparently). Since she had news of note about her recently, the article focuses on her father as it evokes a sense of familiarity and connection to the victims.
It makes NO suggestion that he was targeted speficially. That's your inference.
As for "not dealing with such things in the states", appanerntly you've never heard of Dylan Roof, pr the 16th St Baptist Church Bombing, etc.
