2. It's a sanctuary city in that those crossing at the NY/Quebec border are declaring themselves as asylum seekers. As such, they are identified, and their application for refugee status gets reviewed to determine if they will be granted that status. They aren't deemed illegal, because they're not sneaking in and then disappearing off the grid - they're being held at sanctuary sites like Montreal until Immigration can get through their request. With the spike since the Tweeting Twit took office, those agents can't keep up. They even had to resort to opening the Olympic Stadium (the Expos old home) as a shelter.
4. Considering it's still only a proposal that is being considered, I still have no clue why it would be relevant to this criminal's case.
5. Look up the definition yourself. But really, the main issue is that in Arizona, stopping latinos to check immigration papers is profiling - unless they can show they had a lot more to make that call than the person's race. Based on the ex-Sheriff's own admission, he was carrying out his own personal mission despite it being struck down in court.
In Toronto, they weren't stopping every immigrant because they suspected they all had drugs. They dealt with this criminal in any way they would deal with other individuals suspected of carrying drugs. Why is that difference so hard to understand??
