Well this blows! Have you guys ever heard of the saying "Locks are for honest people"? The Cheaters WILL find a new way to cheat!

Posted by: HuskyMiller on Sep 22, 13:33 in response to The HSX Team's post HSX Announces the End of the Commission-Free Period

Just as most people get up every morning to go make an honest living and live honest lives, there are muggers, thieves, robbers and cheats (like Bernie Madoff) out there, who's job and vocation is to get up every morning and think of new and innovative ways to cheat and steal from the rest of us. This is indeed their 9 to 5 gig. This is what they do, and they'll just find new ways to do it. Free trading be damned!

So instead of directly addressing the cheaters -- you guys are throwing out the baby with the bath water? Instead of performing surgery on the infected area -- you guys instead decide to amputate the entire leg and call it a day? Well I think it's a shame that the vast majority of us have to pay for the sins of a few.

If there truly is a problem with market manipulation via free trading, what makes you think the people doing it won't find a new way to cheat? If I'm a cheater and I've got eight or 10 portfolios I'm using to manipulate the market, what the hell do I care if it costs me a commission to do it? I would think a cheater would only be concerned with making the ONE portfolio grow and could care less about the fees shrinking the other nine or 10 dummy portfolios. At LEAST with the free trading period we used to know exactly when the market manipulation would take place. We players could decide (for ourselves) to be in or out of the market, play or not play -- we had a choice. Now we'll be forced to stay in the market 24/7 and will have no idea when (or how) these people will decide to strike and will all get caught with our pants down when it happens.

I for one will miss the free trading period because it gave me a much needed breather on the weekend and provided an opportunity to "reset" my portfolio for the coming week. While it's true this really changes nothing for most of us (other than no more free trades on the weekend and placing our hard earned gains at the mercy of the cheaters) I don't like the fact that is was taken away from me because a tiny minority abused this valuable tool. Again I say -- this blows!

So lets see what happens in the coming weeks. Only time will tell if you guys have made the right move to fix this.

(steps down from soapbox.)

By the way, you guys need to get that "free trades rewards program" up and running ASAP!!! How about doing THAT as quickly as you got rid of free trading.

The least you could do is give us one last free weekend to set up our ports, even if it's just Sunday morning or something shorter. grory Sep 22, 12:17

I have no problem we can all cheat or play fair that is on our own morals; however there should have been some warning on the calander! {nm} damenchipguy Sep 22, 18:01

I made my plays on Sat. and it will hurt my port on shorts I picked up, had I known I may have played differant {nm} damenchipguy Sep 22, 18:03

I will have to play with a higher droi instead of weekly(some trades), thats okay but a heads up would have been the right thing to do {nm} damenchipguy Sep 22, 18:05

'bout time. {nm} remrej Sep 22, 12:42

Good post and you are correct. People still cheated during the year long (I think) period we were without commission free a few years ago. grory Sep 22, 13:44

Well said. The are lots of options that can be done before spilling the blood of commision free days . Plus this will have consequences. Guillo Sep 22, 17:58

well said. build a better mouse trap and they will build a better mouse. {nm} eyescovered Sep 22, 13:55

I think we can live without free trades. Stupid Flanders Sep 22, 14:00

Way back when I first started playing this game, I had multiple ports and TPTB caught me trying to game the system. Hooray360 Sep 22, 14:10

So a few greedy billionaires complain about nor profiting from multiple stock flips and the solution is to punish 1000s of small ports? LonePirate Sep 22, 16:48

The end of commission free along with the launch of CX Derivatives in the planning for weeks. {nm} Antibody Sep 22, 18:07

So what kept HSX from letting us know BEFORE hand? CX derivitaves news release was piss poor, plain and simple. remrej Sep 22, 18:21

LOL......completely agree. {nm} Broiler Sep 22, 19:37

Commish Free Still For Bonds? Broiler Sep 22, 19:37

Because TPTB did not decide to launch until this week. {nm} Antibody Sep 22, 19:40

Then shame on them. Weeks of adv. planning mean nothing if those affected by the change are given 0 time to react {nm} remrej Sep 23, 08:57

They have been looking at this for some time. Wasn't because H-Mogul brought it up. Me, I don't care one way or another. When I had an Catzan Sep 23, 12:25

THIS NEWS TOALLY SUCKS! {nm} icecreamman Sep 22, 20:55

i think it's not fair to punish all traders because of one or two dishonest people. how sad. i will certainly be trading less. {nm} extepan Sep 24, 04:33
