Why should the newbies dominate the Leaderboards?

I mean, somebody comes in, plucks their $2 Million on G.I, Joe or Ironman, or a Passion of the Christ and BAM! Without any skill at all they've produced a gain of 100 to 300% and make the Leaderboard for the week, the month, the season, and the year. 

Why not use a weighted gains based on an average of all players Net Worth compared to an average of all player's gains? I admit I'm no mathematician, but I know there's a fairer system available by averaging the gains and losses and worth of all players and by using the correct equations.
