SG (aka Daniel RPK's quasi-outlet when he isn't patreon): Marvel Studios is looking to create its own in-house VFX Studio notfabio Aug 11, 12:43

So congrats to who suggested it a few weeks ago! (They still will have no choice but to farm some of the work out no matter what) notfabio Aug 11, 12:44

"we fixed the glitch" {nm} racaccoonie Aug 11, 12:44

It should also cut down on leaks if they keep the cameos inhouse. {nm} Antibody Aug 11, 12:45

Technical question: Can individual VFX shots be started right after they’re filmed on a shot-by-shot basis? {nm} Jay_Beezy Aug 11, 12:54

Shots needs to be edited into a sequence first. {nm} Antibody Aug 11, 12:59

Can editors start editing when the film is still in principal photography? {nm} Jay_Beezy Aug 11, 13:05

Yes, they can edit as the dailies come in each day. {nm} Antibody Aug 11, 13:09

And then when the VFX shots are edited, are they sent to VFX teams? {nm} Jay_Beezy Aug 11, 13:14

You should read some of my VFX pieces on Below the Line. We get into all that stuff quite regularly. {nm} The Weekend Warrior Aug 11, 13:18

Except they've always had in-house VFX that does pre-vis and such in development/preproduction, etc. {nm} The Weekend Warrior Aug 11, 13:04

Given the volume, this would be at least 10 times bigger than WETA (~2k employees) {nm} Moviesnob Aug 11, 14:27

Unless they start poaching (which might be hard if they're that tough to work for), I don't see that happening. {nm} The Weekend Warrior Aug 11, 19:55
