Like every year, I strongly recommend you see Mononoke in the theater. It's a brilliant, complicated film, a true wonder to watch.

It's still playing in theaters during this week. Leave it to animation to tell some of the greatest stories on film. This is a story that demands your full attention. The movie has some very hard truths to tell people about their place in the universe. It doesn't dumb down, you have to keep up with the film. It has the ability to fill you with wonder if you're willing to go down its road. It is filled with stunning visuals and sound. 


There are two famous versions; the original, which is subtitled in English. And there's a pretty famous version dubbed into English, by a voice cast that worked very hard to make an English language version as great as possible. If you can't find it in yourself to watch the subtitled version, the English Version is great in its own way. 

I've seen the film many times in theaters. This time, watching the film made me think of last year's brilliant Flow; I think that would be one of the biggest, most unforgettable double features ever presented. I think those two films speak to each other in a strange way. 

If you've never seen it, a theater is the best way to go.
