Personally, I think there is enough to go around for most of the openers. Paranormal wasn't in all artsy theaters last week. Commercial
houses had it. Our phones were ringing off the hook to get it. 500 Days of Summer is no comparison because of the way this flick has been promoted. My crew was up in arms that we didn't get it and in fact went to see it at our sister theater 40 minutes away. It managed an insane PTA last weekend and needs to do what less than half that to adjust well for traders. Wild could be frontloaded with fans on Friday but I would prefer to think the Fans pump up the gross on Friday and Families keep it stable over the weekend. In Miami-Dade, schools are out...oh and school groups are all over Wild right now. I had doubts about the accessibility of the movie before but it looks like to me that it will overcome that. I think the real loser this weekend is Law as it is rated R and would seem to attract some of the same audience as Paranormal.
I have to side with the evil empire and believe Paranormal is a Death Star ready to blow my doors off.
